Tony's thoughts on Week 2
This competition is going to be a close one if it’s already this tight in Week 2! Let’s see what I thought of the dances!

KASEY & PETA
I’m still not convinced he’s going to make it past this first elimination, but I think he did improve a bit in this Quickstep.  I can see him having some weird posture in  his hold and just really messy footwork, but it was better than last week.  If he does surprise me and make it to next  week, then he’s got a lot of work to do.

STANA & MAKS

Well, I really enjoy this song.  And I really enjoy Stana.  But something about this dance just didn’t do  it for me. Maybe it’s because she’s such  a tall woman, and tall people have a bit of trouble with the Jive.  But really, I could see Stana having a lot of  potential, so I’m hoping she’s back next week so we can see if she improves!

CHANDRA & VAL

I think Chandra really benefited from being in hold for the whole dance because the dance I’m picturing is pretty good!
So far, it’s her best dance!  Haha!  But I do think Chandra might stick around a bit longer if she continues  to impress!

SHONTELLE & HENRY
I have to say, Shontelle and a Beyoncé song? How can you really go wrong? This song is such a beautiful one and I think Henry could really work some magic with Shontelle and give us a truly awesome dance. She is definitely a contender for the DWTSGame title! Only time will tell us if she makes it!

JENNIFER & DEREK

I don’t know… There’s something about this jive that seemed like a step backwards for me. Maybe it was the song, or maybe it was just the fact that I don’t see her doing well with the Jive. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it was still a good effort, but I just don’t think she could have pulled the Jive off very well.

MARK & KARINA

I think Mark is definitely going to be more of an entertainer than he’d be a technical dancer. And I think this Quickstep would have been just that. A lot of fun, a lot of energy, and maybe some cleaned up technique too! He might be a huge underdog, but I see him being successful.

DEMI & MARK
Another Disney movie song for Demi, it seems! And while they’re a lot of fun, I hope it doesn’t become a trend like
with Billy Ray Cyrus on the real show basically dancing to a country song every week. Demi is a lot of fun, and I think she is one of the many contenders for the Season 12 title, and this Jive really helped prove to us that she’s a threat!

CHARLIE & LINDSAY

I’ve said that Charlie is a little bland, and I’ll back that up again with this Contemporary. I can’t picture him giving any emotion while dancing this. Just probably walking around the floor lifting Lindsay up is what I’d have to guess this dance looked.

BRYAN & KYM

Hold your horses folks. I think this Quickstep might actually be a one-week wonder for Bryan. He, like Chandra, most likely would benefit from the dance being in hold for the majority of it. But I can’t say that I think this bout of improved scores will continue with Bryan. I’m a little worried for him in the coming weeks.

KATE & TONY

Wowsers! I went back and forth with this one. Should I give it a 10, or should I give it a 9? Obviously, I settled on a 9.
While an amazing dancer, I think Kate would still have a minimal amount of rough edges in Week 2. But without a doubt, Kate is the one everyone is going to want to beat!

HELENA & TRISTAN

I’m still having a bit of a problem accepting that Natalie cast her. Haha! She’s just an oddball choice to me. But I think this Contemporary could have been right up her alley… and then I picture poor Helena try to do a lift and the whole dance goes to shambles. I think she’ll be safe, so hopefully she’ll be able to improve for next week.

PAUL & ANNA

I told Natalie that this song is better suited for a Samba. It’s even been used as a Samba before on the real show. So I had a hard time picturing it being a decent Quickstep. But what I do imagine is Paul and Anna working with what they’ve been given and really giving it their all for this one.

RINGO & LACEY

72 years old + Jive = Disaster in my book. Sure, Ringo’s pretty fit for his age, but the Jive is a fast, tough dance. And it does no favors for people as old as Ringo. I think he would have tried. I really do think that. But I just cannot picture this Jive being anything but an absolute mess.

JAMIE & CHERYL

I’m going to have to disagree with Valerie in her ranking of Jamie. I think Jamie’s got what it takes to make it pretty far in the competition. And I think this Contemporary is a perfect example of why I think that. For starters, he’s tied for second. Coupled with the fact that Cheryl can work some magic with contenders makes me think that he could make it up to the Semi-Finals, if not the Finals themselves.
