Tony's thoughts on Story week
Lots of impressive stories on Wednesday! Definitely a lot of emotions flying around too! Let’s see what I thought of Story Night!

CHANDRA & VAL

We normally see this song done to Salsas and Sambas so it was interesting to see it as a Jive! I think that the song gave the dance a new perspective almost! However cute the story was for these two, I’m afraid the Jive is probably one of be worst dances Chandra could have gotten early on. I don’t see her being too great at the Jive. Hopefully she’ll be back next week to impress us!

HELENA & TRISTAN

Something about this dance just made me not like it. I can’t really put my finger on it, but I just don’t see Helena selling this dance as much as we’d like her too. If she’s not in danger on Sunday night, then she’s got a lot to improve on for Week 4. I do think that she would try her hardest. Unfortunately, it just didn’t come off that  way to me.

CHARLIE & LINDSAY
An interesting cover from the White Stripes song, I thought. It definitely lent to a very different story. However I still see Charlie as being bland, bland, bland. And honestly, I was quite surprised that he didn’t land in the Bottom Two last week. Anyway, I don’t think he’d be the worst dancer on the show, but he’s far from being the best.

PAUL & ANNA

Very innocent, very simple, and I pictured a very well executed Viennese Waltz. Think of Andy Dick’s Viennese Waltz from this past season. That’s what I think about when I picture Paul’s dance. I really do enjoy these two and I hope they’ve got the juice to make it to the half way mark of the competition! I think he might have had some technical  issues, but he really sold this dance for me. My favorite of his so far!

BRYAN & KYM
I told everyone last week that I didn’t think Bryan’s luck would continue after his Quickstep, and I think I was right with this Jive. Yeah, the story worked for them, but I just  can’t help but picture a Jive full of mistakes and really slow
movements from Bryan. He might be in danger in the coming weeks if he were to keep delivering performances like
this.

KATE & TONY

I’m going to try my hardest to be unbiased towards these two, but I really cannot help but picture Kate nailing all of her dances here on out. Really, I want everyone to think about it, is there a dance you CAN’T see Kate really blow out of the water? I think the Waltz would have been one of her more challenging dances, and she had a great story, and I can imagine some really good technique. Watch out, Kate’s  gonna be getting some 10s by Week 5.

JENNIFER & DEREK

I liked this dance, really I did. I wasn’t quite as impressed with it as I was with Kate, but I think Jennifer could have really sold her Rumba a little better if she had gotten it later on in the season. I definitely enjoyed the story. You can’t help but think of a couple flirting when you listen to this  song! A good dance, but I know Jennifer could give us more.

JAMIE & CHERYL
Well if this dance doesn’t prove that Jamie could dance, then I don’t know what would. I loved this song. I love any classic Foxtrot songs, really. I think Cheryl will finally make it far enough to get two dances in one week with Jamie! I also thought that their story was fun too. I think this was a perfect chance for Jamie (as well as all the actors this season) to really show off their acting chops, and I think Jamie would have done just that!

RINGO & LACEY
Okay, I really do like this couple, but seriously… can anyone really picture a 72 year old dance a good Salsa? Well, a 72 year old that has no dance training, that is. Haha! I know that’s a little harsh, but it’s the truth. I think he’s got an endearing quality to him, but really, unless he gets a ballroom dance next week, he’ll continue to see more 5s from us judges.

MARK & KARINA

I think Mark is shaping up to be a dark horse this season! I love this song, and I think the story went right along with the mood of the dance. I was thinking maybe Mark would have some problems with the Jive, but after thinking it through, I can’t see why I would think that! He’s one of the more animated characters on Glee, and I think he would do the same with his dancing.

DEMI & MARK

Demi had the same problem as Jennifer for me. I think I may have set my expectations a little two high for these two.  I wasn’t too terribly impressed with Demi’s contemporary. The song is decent, but I’m not crazy about  it, and I think she probably got a little too angry in her portrayal of a jealous girl. At least, that’s what I was picturing. Hopefully she’ll come back next week and wow me!

STANA & MAKSIM

WOW!!! What else can I say?! Stana is, without a doubt, the most improved dancer this week! I can just imagine her cold and steely demeanor for this dance! She does it as Kate Beckett on Castle really well, and I think it would transfer well to dancing! A bit of a more risqué number, but I think that’s what helped sell Stana’s dance! If this doesn’t get the encore on Sunday, I don’t know what will!

SHONTELLE & HENRY

I’m at a bit of a loss for words with these two really. I was talking to Natalie about what we thought might have gone wrong in this dance and we both thought that Shontelle had too many mistakes. You would think that with a sexy dance like the Salsa Shontelle would sell it, right? I think she could have given that she had the Salsa on a different night than Story Night. But Wednesday was a bit let down from her. I know she would be capable of better dancing, so hopefully she’ll come back next week and make us eat our words!

That’s it for Story Night! I hope you guys enjoyed it! If I  had to guess, Helena, Charlie and Shontelle are in a bit of trouble when it comes to thinking about Sunday. But I could be wrong! If you guys want, follow me on Twitter @_MrAntonio_!

And a little spoiler alert for next week! We’re doing GLEE WEEK! All the remaining couples will dance to Glee covers! Hopefully we’ll see some awesome dances! Until next week!
