Tony's thoughts on the Side-by-Side challenge
We’re at the halfway mark of Season 12!  An old leader returns to the top, and a new one emerges! I think Week 5 has just made Season 12 very, very interesting. Overall, I think the night was a success!

SHONTELLE & HENRY

Well she’s keeping up her steam from last week if you ask me! I still think she could be a fairly decent dancer, but for some reason (at this point in time) I just can’t really imagine her blowing me away. She’s done a fair amount of Ballroom and Latin, and I think she’d be pretty versatile. But something about her just doesn’t wow me yet. Hopefully it’ll happen for her next week.

PAUL & ANNA
Finally, a dance from these two that really would do wonders for Paul! Paul is definitely an underdog, and while I still think it would be a stretch if he got a 9 ever on the show, I still think he’d have the fan base to make it in a fair amount. And by the looks of it, Paul is going to stick around for a bit longer too! I’d have to say this was my favorite dance of his this season.

JENNIFER & DEREK
I said last week light an airy Ballroom is what I think of when I think of Jennifer. Well, she finally got that light and airy Ballroom dance! Honestly, I don’t know if she’s going to win Season 12, but now we know for sure she could be a contender! Not much else to say about this dance other than I liked it!

BRYAN & KYM

I think Bryan’s on his last leg, to be honest. He’s had two decent dances, and he got some scores I didn’t expect him
to get before the season started. But I think this could be his last dance. I just can’t imagine him being as strong he’d need to be for the Paso. What I’m imagining is a pretty weak dance. I’ve not really cared for Bryan all season,  honestly. Personal feelings aside, I do think he could be in danger on Sunday.

STANA & MAKS
I’m glad these two have managed to get the Rumba!  The dance I’m picturing in my head seems to be pretty solid! I can really feel Stana selling the heat required for the rumba. But *insider scoop here* I’ve heard Stana’s been a little shaky with votes. She’s barely escaped elimination the past few weeks, and like Bryan, I fear she could be in danger
on Sunday too. We’ll see how it goes, but for the most part, I liked Stana’s dance this week!

RINGO & LACEY
Well if the Salsa was going to give Ringo trouble, it was pretty obvious that the Samba would too. I like Lacey, and I like Ringo, but he’s another one I’m a little iffy about when it comes to thinking about what will happen on Sunday.
He’s without a doubt the weakest dancer left,  but he seems to be getting enough support to make it this far! So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

DEMI & MARK

Well, she was bound to have a little hiccup eventually. And I had a feeling it would have been on the Paso too. I think Demi could still be a definite contender, but the Paso just doesn’t seem like her dance. I was telling Natalie that I think she could maybe really pull of a good Paso if she had a traditional piece of music. But who knows! I think she did well, for the most part. And I think she’s pretty popular with the voters, so she should definitely be back next week.

JAMIE & CHERYL

Can anyone else believe these are Cheryl’s first 10s since Season 7? It was over a year ago, and she’s had a string of pretty poor partners, so I’m glad that Jamie was given to her this season. I really do think he could go all the way. Granted, he’s got Demi, Jennifer and Kate to look out for, but I wouldn’t write off Jamie. I think he could really sell a Samba, and this song was just perfect for him!

KATE & TONY

And our leading lady has ended her 3-week top-of-the-leader-board streak. And really? I’m okay with this. Haha! If Kate were at the top of the leader board every week, that would be boring! I love this song, and I think Kate and Tony could really work wonders with this. But for some reason, I think I was left wanting a little more. The song definitely lends to a more romantic rumba, but I think I wanted just a touch of raunch for Kate. Overall, still good and she’ll
definitely be back next week!

MARK & KARINA

I have to say, I was a little late to the Imagine Dragons fad, but once I found them, I fell in love! And this song is just so awesome that I think this was my favorite dance from Wednesday! Mark is also an underdog, but he’s got more of a chance to take the title than Paul does. Karina’s just amazing, so I think she would have created a routine that was perfect for Mark. Hopefully, Mark will be back next week so he can continue to improve!

So there you have it! I think Stana, Ringo and Bryan are in a little bit of danger come Sunday. If any one of those three were to be eliminated, I wouldn’t be surprised. I hope you all enjoyed Side-By-Side week and thanks for reading! Follow me on Twitter @_MrAntonio_!
