Tony's thoughts on Great Gatsby Week
I've been super busy these past couple of days, so these thoughts are going to be a bit shorter than my last ones.
RINGO & LACEY
Well, there's no doubt about it: I actually liked this dance from Ringo! I can't really explain why, considering I still think this dance could be a train wreck, but I was definitely amused!
MARK & KARINA
I know Natalie was really trying to make this dance unique, but the song just doesn't work as an Argentine Tango for me. The song is what kind of ruined the dance that I pictured in my head. But hopefully Mark will be back to improve!
JAMIE & CHERYL
A bit of a step backwards for last week's leader board topper. This is another dance where the song kind of threw me off. Tango wasn't the first dance style that popped into my head after listening to it. Like Mark, I hope he's back next week!
DEMI & MARK
This is without a doubt, my favorite song from the Great Gatsby soundtrack. It may be a bit fast for a Foxtrot, but I still think it works! And Demi definitely could handle this song! I loved it!
KATE & TONY
And Kate is back to leading the pack (for the individual round anyway)! Shouldn't be too surprised, really. Kate definitely has some competition, but dances like this one will definitely send her to the finals!
BRYAN & KYM
Honestly, I'm surprised he's still here. At this point, personally, I think he's my least favorite star left in the game. I won't be surprised if he makes it another week, but I do think he needs to go now. This dance wasn't bad, and clearly it was his best dance, but I'm still not convinced.
PAUL & ANNA
I'm not convinced Paul would ever get anything over an 8 on the real show. Is he the strongest competitor left? No, but he's certainly not the weakest! And I really enjoyed this Foxtrot from him!
JENNIFER & DEREK
This song is definitely either a tie with Demi's song for my favorite song, or an extremely close second from this soundtrack! I think Jennifer really could have pulled off a classy Quickstep! I hope she sticks around for a while too!
TEAM J-LO
I know this team has Jamie and Kate on it, so everyone would be expecting this team to be the best, but for some reason, I don't see everyone working as a team for this dance. In my mind, this team is the team with most of the
pros arguing about what to do. And while sometimes that means that team is going to surprise the audience, I don't think that was the case this week. The dance I pictured was a bit dysfunctional, and definitely rough around the edges.
TEAM CARLY
So this team had the exact opposite problem of Team J-Lo. I think everyone on this team would have worked beautifully together! And really, the dance I'm imagining is really cohesive, and really, truly an impressive team dance! There are also a couple reasons I gave this dance a 10. One is, I don't think a Team Dance has scored a 10 in a long time with the DWTSGame, and the second reason is that the dance was just really fun! I felt like I couldn't not give it a 10!
