Tony's thoughts on the quarter-finals
JENNIFER & DEREK
Tango: I don’t know if it was the song, or the fact that I just didn’t really care for Jennifer doing a tango or not. I’m being a bit harsh when I say that, but the dance I imagine from Jennifer just doesn’t wow me for some reason. But tit was still a good effort.
Cha-Cha-Cha (With Henry): Well Jennifer finally captured her first 30 with this Cha-Cha! I really enjoyed the song, and I think Cha-Cha was really the only Latin dance (besides the Rumba) that I knew she could handle! So great job for these two!
KATE & TONY
Quickstep: With a song titled after our head judge and producer, I feel like I was almost obligated to give this a 10.
;) Haha! But in all seriousness, Kate is definitely a fierce competitor for everyone. Although I’m beginning to wonder if she really will take the trophy, I know she’s headed for the finals. No doubt!
Paso Doble (With Tristan): I think I have the same issue with this dance as I did with Jennifer’s Tango. I just don’t think I was very impressed by it. And I really didn’t care too much for the song. But let’s be honest, Kate can’t be perfect all the time. So this Paso may have been a step back, but we know she’ll want to do better next week!
MARK & KARINA
Viennese Waltz: Sweet? Definitely. Emotional? Sure! But something about this dance kept me from giving it a perfect score. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe it’s the fact that Ballroom and Mark don’t mix in my head. I will say that he definitely has been exceeding expectations, though I do worry for him when Sunday comes.
Paso Doble (With Aric): Well whatever was missing in the first dance, I clearly thought he made up in this one! I think Mark could really capture the character required for the Paso. And I even think he could finally have put technique and performance together for this one!
JAMIE & CHERYL
Quickstep: And Jamie takes home his first 30 this week too! I think he, along with Kate, are the only real locks for the finals for me. And this would be Cheryl’s first time in the DWTSGame Finale too! And I definitely think that this Quickstep would be what propels him into the Finale! I think this might have even been better than Kate’s Quickstep!
Jive (With Anna): Well Jamie got the two fastest dances this week! And I think he handled them nicely! I used to really enjoy this song, but I listened to it too much that it kind of ruined it for me. Haha! But still a great Jive song, and I think a great Jive from Jamie. Aside from my opinion of the song, I think Jamie’s kicks or legs might have given him some problems, but that’s really it for this one.
DEMI & MARK
Argentine Tango: As sad as it is, I’m beginning to think Demi will be cut in next week’s Semi-Finals. And I don’t know if I want her to! This Argentine Tango, to me, was definitely the best of the season so far! Mark can really work wonders with the Argentine Tango, and I think he would have delivered all the same with this one for Demi!
Cha-Cha-Cha (With Lindsay): Well, I think the youthful song worked for her, but I think maybe choosing Lindsay might have been too much for her. Now, I liked the fact that Lindsay was with these two. But Maybe Demi wasn’t quite able to keep up with her like we would have wanted.
RINGO & LACEY
Argentine Tango: Well, he got his highest scores of the season this week! But really, it’s time for Ringo to go. It’s great that he’s made it this far, and I definitely think Lacey could have choreographed a decent tango without any lifts for Ringo. So if he does end up leaving on Sunday, he’ll be going out on a high!
Paso Doble (With Kym): Again, a good effort from Ringo, but he’s clearly the weakest dancer left. I don’t think I can say much else about him and his Paso that I haven’t already said about past dances.
So I think our Semi-Finalists will be Demi, Kate, Jennifer and Jamie, with Mark and Ringo leaving on Sunday. It sucks that Mark will be going, but someone has to go! Thanks for reading and follow me on Twitter @_MrAntonio_!
Until next week!
